MARKETING INTERN

The Marketing Intern is responsible for supporting the Calamity Jane's Apparel team on the development of brand recognition, brand cohesiveness, and seasonal campaigns, focusing on content marketing as it relates to social media, blog, and influencer outreach. We’re looking for someone who loves writing, who thrives off of creative freedom, who is detail oriented and organized, and who is a self-starter.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support Social Media Manager on planning, scheduling and copywriting for various social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat. 
  • Develop ideas for engaging giveaways that meet business goals, and work with customer experience and warehouse teams to send items to winners. 
  • Assist in creating a blog calendar and write at least 4 blog posts a month. 
  • Support Social Media Manager in influencer relations, outreach and coordination of product. 
  • Support Brand Ambassadors with customer service and product sends. 
  • Assist photoshoot and photo studio team as necessary. 
  • Help maintain brand consistency across all channels. 

 

Key Skills / Qualifications: 

  • Pursuing a degree in marketing, brand management, advertising/public relations, communications, or related degree. 
  • Detail oriented, analytical, creative and organized. 
  • Excellent communication, writing and persuasion skills.

Miscellaneous:

  • This position is classified as hourly, 20-30 hours per week.
    • Given the seasonality of the business, this position may require flexible, additional working hours during peak periods specifically around events local to the area and holidays.
    • This position is reviewed yearly.

 

GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERN

The Graphic Design Intern is responsible for supporting the Calamity Jane's Apparel Creative and Marketing team on the development of brand recognition, brand cohesiveness, seasonal campaigns, art development that is consistent with the Calamity Jane's Apparel & Home brand, and graphic design production support. Must be detail oriented and organized; a self-starter; able to meet deadlines; able to work independently, under-pressure, and in a fast-paced environment. 

Requirements to apply:

  • Students must have an overall GPA of 2.8 or higher.
    • Students who are classified at end of 2018 spring semester as a junior, senior, graduate student, or a student that graduates in May of 2018.
    • Students interested in a Creative Internship must be enrolled in a degree program relevant to graphic design and submit a creative portfolio.

    Required Skills and Experience:
    • 1-2 years of graphic design experience working in a team environment
    • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite with emphasis on print and layout based software
    • Advanced skills in layout and print design
    • Knowledge of corporate creative strategy, marketing objectives, brand identity standards and positioning statements
    • Knowledge of the design process, Form Follows Function, as it relates to graphic design and advertising design disciplines
    • Knowledge of the elements (typography, copy, color, photography, illustration, etc.) used in graphic and advertising disciplines
    • Knowledge of the products (print collateral, packaging/labeling, signage, logos, etc.) that are outcomes of graphic and advertising disciplines
    • Knowledge of current creative or design trends in the design industry
    • Knowledge of pre-press (file preparation) and various printing processes (offset, flexographic, digital and screen) and related proofing requirements
    • Ability to solve communication problems through effective use of design
    • Skilled in all phases of design development process (concept, layout, execution), including effective use and integration of all relative design elements: typography, photography, illustration, color and logos/icons
    • Skilled in all phases of graphics "mechanical" production
    • Ability to evaluate design work for effectiveness against established creative strategies and objectives
    • Skilled in designing a variety of visual elements (ads, brochures, posters, packaging, signs, logos)
    • Ability to evaluate photography for quality and effectiveness
    • Ability to work well with others and to be an effective team player
    • Have a passion for extending their knowledge base
    • Obvious enthusiasm, initiative and pride in work


Desired Skills & Experience:
• Experience with video production and working knowledge of editing software like Adobe Premiere
• Intermediate knowledge of web design and web development standards (HTML, CSS)

BRAND MANAGER/DEVELOPER

The Brand Manager/Developer is responsible for understanding what makes our target audience tick, and for developing marketing campaigns that position our brand according to those motivators. These marketing campaigns will not only drive customer engagement, but will further define our brand's reputation and image in relation to the market.  

Job Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to, the following):

  • Conduct consumer and market research
  • Identify how our brand is currently positioned in the market
  • Design a research-based brand strategy
  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns aimed at communicating our brand message 
  • Communicate our brand personality internally and align company around foundational ideas
  • Lead marketing team members through campaigns
  • Measure and report on success of marketing campaigns
  • Anticipate consumer trends and keep brand up to date

 

Brand Manager Education Level, Skills, and Experience:

  • Must have obtained at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant major.  
  • Strong leadership skills and excellent communication skills are also required. 
  • Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, be self motivated, and work in a fast paced environment. 
  • Must be able to understand the Calamity Jane's Apparel brand and demographic in order to distinguish our brand from the market. Must have insightful thinking as well as an aptitude for creative, out of the box thinking. Must be able to offer innovative strategies and ideas to help the Calamity Jane's Apparel brand stand out.
  • Must stay on top of industry trends in marketing and consumer psychology. Must be able to demonstrate their interest for the latest industry news and information.
  • Must be able to execute ideas, strategies and objectives.  Must be able to stay focused and be ready to take on multiple responsibilities.
